International companies that responded to Sana’a’s decision and suspended its passage via the Red Sea
In response to Sana’a’s decision, which it imposed in solidarity with Gaza, which is being subjected to a genocidal war by the Zionist occupation entity, a number of international navigation companies, including Israeli companies, have announced the suspension of shipping operations across the Red Sea. The lifting of the aggression and siege on Gaza is a condition for canceling this decision.

On December 18th, British Petroleum (BP), a major oil company, announced the temporary suspension of all transportation operations through the Red Sea. Similarly, on December 16th, the French shipping group CMA CGM announced the temporary suspension of all container shipments via the Red Sea.
The Norwegian oil and gas company Equinor said on December 18 that it had redirected the routes of some ships that were heading towards the Red Sea, while the Belgian oil tanker company “Euronav” stated on the same day that it would avoid the Red Sea area until further notice.
In the same vein, Taiwan’s container shipping company, “Evergreen,” announced on December 18 that its ships that provide regional services to Red Sea ports would sail to nearby safe waters and wait for further notification. Ships that were supposed to pass through the Red Sea around the Cape of Good Hope would be redirected. Additionally, it temporarily suspended the acceptance of Israeli goods.
Frontline, a Norwegian-based oil tanker company, announced on December 18th that its vessels would avoid passing through the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. In the future, they would increase the prices customers must pay for crude oil transportation. On the same day, the German’s container shipping company “Hapag Lloyd” announced that it would redirect several ships through the Cape of Good Hope to safety. Passage through the Suez Canal and the Red Sea can be ensured.
Following Sana’a forces targeting several ships that attempted to break the ban decision, Danish company AP Moller-Maersk announced on December 15th that it would temporarily suspend all container shipments via the Red Sea until further notice. The next day, the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) stated that its ships would not pass through the Suez Canal, with some already being redirected via the Suez Canal, Cape of Good Hope”.
The Chinese company Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has also suspended shipping to and from Israel until further notice. The shipping company, owned by Hong Kong-based Oriental Overseas (International) Ltd, made this announcement on December 16th. However, its ships continue to sail to ports of all countries in response to Sana’a’s decision.
Taiwanese shipping company Yang Ming announced on December 18th that it would redirect the routes of ships sailing through the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden to the Cape of Good Hope for the next two weeks.
Following three attacks on ships associated with Israel by the Sana’a Navy, the Israeli shipping company “ZIM”‘s container ship altered its course and is now circumnavigating Africa rather than crossing via the Suez Canal and the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait off Yemen.
Sana’a confirms in its military statements that it will not hesitate to target any ship associated with the Zionist entity or heading towards its ports until the siege on the Gaza Strip is lifted. It calls on ships heading to all ports around the world, except Israeli ports, to keep the identification device open.
