Israeli alert following the “Houthi” speech, while America is looking for de-escalation
The speech of the leader of Ansar Allah in Yemen, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, on Thursday has raised Israeli and American concerns about its repercussions.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
In Israel, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant arrived at the naval base in Eilat, where he attempted to send multiple internal and external messages. Gallant, who appeared confounded, placed a water background for his image as camouflage on the website he was on, trying to reassure the interior front by claiming their ability to respond to any threat from Yemen, despite his country having announced on more than four occasions the sending of battleships to lift the blockade in the Red Sea and making several announcements about its intention to launch airstrikes.
Regardless of Gallant’s statements, aimed at calming interior fears of the repercussions of the escalation in Yemen, his reliance on the new American alliance to end the blockade of its main ports was evident in his speech. It also revealed concerns of a larger escalation in Yemen, especially since Gallant’s arrival in the coastal city on the Red Sea came hours after a speech by Al-Houthi including direct threats to Israel, vowing to continue attacks on a larger scale, and warnings to America of the consequences of engaging in escalation.
In the same vein, diplomatic sources have disclosed that the US is in communication with regional mediators in an effort to defuse tensions in Yemen in light of the recent alliance announcement. According to the sources, the Americans pledge not to launch any attacks on Yemen, and the alliance aims only to escort ships and prevent escalation.
