World Health Organization: The largest medical complex in Gaza turned into a structure full of corpses

The World Health Organization stated today, Saturday, that the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, the largest medical institution in Gaza, has suffered extensive damage due to the attack and siege by the occupation, resulting in it being transformed into a structure filled with corpses.

Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The “France Presse” agency quoted the organization as saying that the largest hospital in Gaza has suffered “massive destruction” due to the recent siege and has become an “empty structure” except for the corpses.

According to the United Nations agency, which condemned the massive destruction, a mission affiliated with the World Health Organization was able to enter the hospital yesterday, Friday, after several failed attempts since March 25.

The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, stated in a post on the “X” platform: “The World Health Organization and its partners managed to access the Al-Shifa complex, which was once the backbone of the health system in Gaza and is now an empty structure except for the human graves after the recent siege.”

He noted that the team saw “at least five corpses during the mission, and that the majority of the hospital buildings have been subjected to massive destruction, and the assets have been mostly damaged or turned to ashes.”

He explained that “restoring the minimum operational capacity in the short term seems unlikely” and that a thorough assessment is needed by an engineering team to determine whether the remaining buildings are safe for future use.

The occupation forces withdrew from the Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City on Monday after a two-week military operation, during which they claimed to have engaged with Palestinian militants inside the complex.
