The escalation of ship targeting in the Indian Ocean with attempts to break the siege on Israel
With indications of attempts to break the Yemeni blockade on Israel’s western coast, the frequency of maritime attacks off Yemen’s eastern coast escalated on Sunday.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The Indian Navy reported in a statement that a cargo ship sailing under the flag of Malta was subjected to hijacking between the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea, indicating that they are still monitoring the vessel’s movements.
The European mission in Somalia announced on Friday the movement of a Spanish ship in an attempt to liberate a hijacked vessel there.
These operations mark the fourth since Sana’a announced its decision to ban ship activity towards Israeli ports through the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea.
The fact that Sana’a has successfully imposed a blockade in the Red Sea despite not having formally embraced any operations yet suggests that it is planning to intensify its operations in the strategically important areas of the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. This is especially in light of reports of efforts to break Israel’s siege through the economic line that links India to Israel via the UAE and Saudi Arabia, where Sana’a has alliances with Yemeni forces in eastern Yemen, which are under the control of the coalition, and also Somali.
